Repository Software Sandbox
The CAIRSS Repository Software Sandbox provides CAIRSS Repository Managers and Technical Officers the opportunity to:
- Test and try out different repository software options to their current software
- Experiment with configuration changes with a number of repository software options
- View resource types and objects in a number of repository software options
All without having to install different repository software options at their own institution.
The CAIRSS Repository Software Sandbox also allows the CAIRSS Technical Officer to test data migration between different repository software options, which will in turn assist CAIRSS Community members when/if they decide to migrate to a new repository software platform.
CAIRSS Central has ingested the same test dataset into each repository software installation in the sandbox to start. CAIRSS Community members are invited to play/test each repository software installation in the sandbox. This includes:
- Adding new objects
- Editing objects
- Deleting objects
- Making interface configurations
- Making functionality configurations
If you are undertaking larger configurations in the sandbox, please let the CAIRSS Technical Officer know. When each software installation gets too messy from numerous configurations, the CAIRSS Technical Officer will roll it back to a vanilla state. All major configuration and data manipulation will require administrator right via the web portals of each software installation, please contact the CAIRSS Technical Officer at cairss-technical@caul.edu.au for Administrator user name and password.
At this stage only open source repository software options are included in the sandbox. CAIRSS will be communicating with commercial repository software vendors to see if they are able to participate in the CAIRSS Repository Software Sandbox in the future.
