CAIRSS Community Day 2011

The 2011 CAIRSS Community Day will be held in Melbourne on Friday the 11thNovember 2011.

The day is an event to meet with other CAIRSS repository managers and discuss topics of interest to the community. The program of the day is designed to cater to both Repository Managers and Repository Technical Officers.

Date: Friday 11th November 2011.

Time: 9:30am-4pm.

Venue: ‘Old Arts Theatre‘, University of Melbourne.

About: The Community Day provides an opportunity for CAIRSS members to meet and to discuss common matters of interest. The program for the day will follow a similar format to previous Community Days, and is designed for both Repository Managers and Technical Officers. For 2011, a new format for the Technical Breakout session will give technical officers an opportunity to share and exchange information.

Program: The CAIRSS Community Day 2011 will consist largely of presentations from Community members which will highlight recent activity within the institutional repository space in Australia and New Zealand. Topics of interest being covered throughout the day will include: Repository statistics; Open Access; an overview of the repository environment in New Zealand; an overview of the results of the 2011 CAIRSS Repository Manager Survey as well as a presentation on a new survey being run by Griffith University which will be of interest to the CAIRSS Community.

We will also hear about various improvements which have been implemented in various IRs in 2011.

The CAIRSS Copyright team will provide a Copyright update, the ARC will join us to provide an update on ERA2012, and  ANDS will provide an update around data management activities in Australia.

In 2011 we will also welcome Google Scholar to our Community event. The day will include a session attended (via teleconference) by two representatives from Google Scholar – Anurag Acharya and Darcy Dapra.
