CAIRSS Community Day 2010
The 2010 CAIRSS Community Day will be held in Melbourne on Tuesday the 23rd November 2010.
An event to meet with other CAIRSS repository managers and discuss topics of interest to the community. The program is designed to cater to both Repository Managers and Repository Technical Officers.

CAIRSS Community Function

About: Following the Community Day, the evening function provides an opportunity to meet repository colleagues from all CAIRSS institutions and informally discuss topics of interest. Finger food and beverages will be provided.
Satellite Events
VITAL Users’ Group Meeting
Date: Monday 22nd November 2010.
Time: 1:00pm-5:30pm.
Venue: Board Room, Monash Centre. 30 Collins Street, Melbourne.
About: In conjunction with the CAIRSS Community Day, a VITAL Users’ Group Meeting has been organised as a satellite event.
VITAL users are invited to attend the day and contribute to the agenda, discussions and presentations.
There will be an informal lunch gathering prior to the meeting. Details to be notified to attendees closer to the time.

CAIRSS/ANDS Metadata Stores Briefing
Date: Wednesday 24th November 2010.

About: Pitched to the CAIRSS Community, a presentation on what is happening with repositories of metadata about research data. Universities across Australia are now starting to build and/or install repositories (or registries) of metadata about research data, in order to comply with data management provisions in The Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research, and to make their research data discoverable. Will feature demonstrations of some of the systems which are now being piloted in various institutions under the ‘Metadata Stores’ and ‘Seeding the Commons’ ANDS programs, with an explanation of how these systems will work with existing repository infrastructure.
