CAIRSS has launched the new ‘Repository Software Sandbox’ for CAIRSS community members. See: http://cairss.caul.edu.au/www/sandbox/sandbox.htm This service was developed in response to requests from CAIRSS community members.
This new CAIRSS Repository Software Sandbox offers CAIRSS Repository Managers and Technical Officers the opportunity to:
- Test and try out different repository software options to their current software
- Experiment with configuration changes with a number of repository software options
- View resource types and objects in a number of repository software options All without having to install different repository software at their own institution.
The CAIRSS Repository Software Sandbox also allows the CAIRSS Technical Officer to test data migration between different repository software options, which will in turn assist CAIRSS community members when/if they decide to migrate to a new repository software platform.
The Sandbox started with open source repository software with ePrints and DSpace already added and The Fascinator, Fez and Squire coming soon. Some commercial repository software vendors have also come on board with links to a Digital Commons BePress instance also included. CAIRSS invites all CAIRSS community members to use the Sandbox for their testing/evaluation needs, and invites other commercial repository software vendors to have their software represented in the Sandbox.
